MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Here we go!!! We start another year with a new President and Board of Directors.
For those returning Board Members and the 2012 newbies, welcome and thank you for being aboard. Our membership has a variety of needs, with each member choosing his or her own manner of participation, whether it is limited to attending dinner meetings, educational seminars, the annual conference or participating as a board member of this regional. Regardless of your participation, your membership is important to you as an individual, as it is also important to this Association as well as CEA.
As far as my personal goals are concerned, my priority next year is to bring you topics on a monthly basis that directly affect you at your desk daily and second, to promote CEA's professional designation program which distinguishes those who see escrow as a career from those who are just passing through.
One of the major challenges facing the LAEA is the attendance at the general meetings as well as finding an affordable place to meet. As we see more and more employers not covering the membership dues or dinner meetings (or) as we see our members traveling longer distances to new jobs, it has become a challenge for the membership to attend meetings on a monthly basis. The board of directors are well aware of this situation and we are working together to find an amicable solution. Your input and new fresh ideas are welcome so please do not hesitate to convey them to us!!!
Another of the challenges is the market and the technology that is constantly changing. We must keep up with the technology and one way is to look for new ways of doing things.
My personal goal is to keep updating our website with information that is useful and welcomed by our members as well as our Facebook page and encourage each of you to use it as a membership sharing tool. We all can learn from each other and from experiences if they are willingly shared. Sharing is the most valuable learning tool.
I am ecstatic with all the energy that emerged at the change over meeting that we had in December. Our mission is just starting and there is a lot of work to do. The theme I have chosen this year is “Mission Possible”. Why, you ask? Because I have been told that escrow has become a next to impossible endeavor due to the present market conditions; however, I do not believe in that!! After being your president in 1987 and in 1997, I do still believe that nothing is “impossible” if we work together as an association that is “united “. I ask you to join me in this mission for the year 2012 by bringing your enthusiasm to our January meeting and the start of the new year!!
Thank you for your loyal membership and thank you for allowing me to serve as your president again!!
