“The Torch of a Legacy.” This is theme for 2008. The Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Escrow Association are all fueled up, and committed to keep the flame burning bright. The coming year will be challenging to say the least.

The continuing commitment to keep our members educated, informed and in tune with legislative changes and updates is even more important than ever.
The Educational Committee has carefully planned an extraordinary educational agenda to meet the needs of our members for this year.

Not only has the planning of education been a driving factor, but costs and affordability have been high on the list of essentials. We have included events which will have quality education for all our members as well as an element of fun and relaxation.

Many of us here today who have been in the real estate industry 25 years or more, have seen many of the highs and lows of this industry. One thing that can be said with confidence is that, it will turn around. Those of you, who have been in the industry 6 years or less, have faith. We know that the real estate industry has been the driving force of the American economy, and it will recover. The American dream of homeowners is alive and well and the escrow profession right along with it.

Let‘s take this time to re-group, advance our education goals and broaden our horizons, and move past our comfort zones. There are many facets to the escrow industry. Do not limit yourselves to business as usual. Search out how the knowledge to confidently process a sale, tract, mobile home, bulk sale, foreclosure, REO and commercial transactions. This will increase your personal value and marketability in the escrow profession.

In conclusion, know that staying in tune and in touch with the escrow industry, through the Escrow Association is a must. You are the most important part of the Escrow Association. Membership is the foundation of the Escrow Association and it starts at the regional level and blossoms from there. The Escrow Association, now more than ever is key to our growth, professionalism and knowledge. The information and education gained and the networking with other escrow professionals, can open doors of opportunity.
